Not only are we committed to our clients, but we also take pride in being a socially responsible company. Wherever we can we like to do our bit to help others and here's just a few examples of the charities we support and how we have helped them...
Henshaws
Henshaws Society for Blind People is a very worthwhile charity that provides care and support for the visually impaired of all ages, across the North of England. We are particularly proud to support our local Henshaws College Living Life Campaign, which aims to raise the remaining £3.5 million of the total £7.5 million needed to refurbish and build accommodation for the students who attend the college.
Buy A Brick Campaign
This summer sees the launch of the Living Life Campaign's Buy A Brick scheme, which hopes to raise a further £1 million towards its target. As supporters of their work, we were only too happy to build them a website that will significantly raise awareness levels. The site is currently being built and it will provide information about the charity, show video footage of the students, provide a running total of the money raised and enable supporters to donate online and see the progress of the build. So watch this space and we'll let you know when it goes live!
Bollywood Ball
We are particularly keen to support a charity if it involves our other passion - having a good time! So it was certainly no hardship for us to take a table at Henshaws' Bollywood Ball last October, which raised almost £40,000 for the Living Life Campaign. We had a fantastic evening and if you've never been, we'd thoroughly recommend attending this year's fundraising ball on Saturday 13 October. This year's theme is the Orient Express, so it should make for a fabulous evening.
Festive Fun
Not afraid of making fools of ourselves, last Christmas we decided that rather than buy our Christmas cards from Henshaws, we would go one step further and go carol singing to raise funds for the Living Life campaign, emailing our clients some home made festive cheer linking to a justgiving page. Despite our singing (and we use the term loosely!) we raised £370. For those who you kind enough to donate, we thank you. For those who weren't, we say bah humbug. And for those who were fortunate to miss it, we say check this out!
Save The Children
In addition to supporting charities directly, we also like to get behind our client's charitable efforts. One of our clients, Tom Lehane from agudoo.com is well on his way to completing the Seven Summits Challenge and having just come back from climbing Mount Everest. Tom hopes to raise £1 million for Save the Children, a charity very close to his heart. To help him raise funds, we were more than happy to build him a website where people could follow his exploits and donate online. Saint Michael's Hospice
Proving that our charitable efforts are not just about glitz and glamour, 9xb joined eight other teams from local businesses to take part in the Saint Michael's Hospice 'It's a Knockout!' competition last September. On one of the worst days for weather, ten of us fought against the freezing cold, torrential rain and gale force winds to run, jump, slip and slide our way to victory as we raced over a very wet and soapy inflatable assault course. Despite the adverse elements, we had a great time and were please to be part of such a fun and worthwhile cause.
Charity Fundraisers Conference
Our very own Rob Burns can often be spotted out and about talking to anyone who'll listen about the wonders of web design and online marketing. Keen to share his expertise, Rob recently took to the stage at the 2007 Yorkshire Regional Convention for the Institute of Fundraisers and spoke about how to create an effective website.
